Potatoes every day.

Potatoes Every Day!

This is the only place where I can say that and someone might relate to it .

I am 9.5 years into my McDougall journey, and I'm still not bored with potatoes. I prepare all my own meals, which include (guess what) potatoes every day. Of course I eat grains, beans, fruits and veggies in addition to potatoes. But potatoes play a starring role.

I am thankful to all the doctors and other advocates of plant-based eating. But I have a special regard for Dr. McDougall and associates for advocating potatoes and for liberating them from their image as a fattening non-nutritious filler rather a real food.

Reading The Starch Solution gave me "permission to eat POTATOES!! :D
EVERY FREAKIN' DAY!!!

Off to the market now.

To buy more spuds.

I also am a potato fan. I have them most days. I also grow my own, and love a variety of types you cannot find in the shops. Its winter now, but last year I grew Pink Fir Apple, Moe Moe, Dutch Cream and Jersey Bennes. All were great. I am browsing through catalogues to see what to grow next season. Some of the 'rare breed' potatoes are so yummy you can eat them as a meal on their own. Plain boiled potatoes. Yum!

Wow, I have never heard of those varieties of potatoes! How nice that you grow your own.

Hey Minnie! Yes, I too eat potatoes every day unless I’m trying to finish up leftovers or I’m out of town! In September I’ll be a 10-year McDougaller. I’m going by when I signed up for an account here, I might have started before or after but I don’t remember. I really feel like things fell into place when I made my main starch potatoes and now I always keep a 10-lb. bag in the pantry. I have to eat them fast too because it’s humid down here!

Yes!

Maybe not every day, but a 5 lb bag of el cheapo russets per week, at least.

Goes good with cabbage. Water sautéed. Nothing but salt and pepper. :D

And this is what 8 grams of protein looks like.

Puting more potatoes in my meal plans has made a world of difference in my journey! Potatoes satisfy me like nothing else!

I eat potatoes every day. At least a half a pound. They are so good and filling also. So many of my friends shun the potato unless it is deep fried.
