I believe the latest data confirms what Jeff Novick is hammering at us. It's an illusion! Wishful thinking!

The reference in the article to a healthier diet is to the CDC guidelines, not very close to the healthy eating that this forum advocates. Here, there is quibbling over fine details that don't matter very much most of the time, like whether to make or buy plant-based milk, just to invent an example.

Most of us Americans think we eat pretty healthy. I certainly did, even prior to going whole food plant-based. At least I ate some leaves fairly often. Most Americans think chicken, fish, and yogurt are health foods. They think high-protein Ensure is healthy.

Better than getting a diet Coke to "balance" the banana cream pie!

Some do better going all-in at once. I am one of those. Others do better making incremental changes.
As Dr. McDougall says, "We all love hearing good news about our bad habits."
