hiking food ideas

Hi everyone! Long time no see. Life has sure gotten busy.
In April I'm hiking the Grand Canyon, and I'd love to hear everyone's ideas for food to pack with me. I'm hiking down South Kaibab and up Bright Angel in one day, a total of 16.5 miles and roughly 5,000 ft of elevation, and probably 12 hours. I've heard that dried fruit and nuts can feel a little heavy on the stomach, but would am interested to know what "McDougallers" like and also if you recommend an electrolyte water mix.
Let me know your experience! Thanks in advance.
