Time & Adherence: The Behavioral Path to MWL Success.

Postby JeffN » Wed Dec 29, 2021 6:24 am

I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season.

In our ongoing quest to keep this group focused on the behaviors that lead to success following the MWL program, we are making a few changes.

1) We are changing the name of the group to "Time & Adherence: The Behavioral Path to MWL Success.” The thread for each monthly group will also reflect the new name: for example, "The Behavioral Path to MWL Success - Jan 2022 Group”

2) We are no longer asking you to report your weight. While it has always been optional, we did keep a tally and record for the month. Since we are no longer asking you to report your weight, we will also no longer be doing a weekly and monthly tally of the group's weight losses, gains and totals.

3) You will still be welcome to post a change in weight (+/- lbs gained or lost) but it is no longer part of the formal template. If you do choose to post a weight change, please do so at the END of your post, rather than at the beginning. Please also enter it as a whole number without a decimal. If your scale displays weight that includes a decimal place you can follow the general rules for rounding; .1 to.4 is rounded down to the nearest whole number, .5 to .9 is rounded up to the nearest whole number.

4) As we focus more on behavior, we would like you to keep responding to each behavior point as you have (with a number rating, thumbs up or down, smile or frown, etc), but to also include a sentence or two (or three) for each point on what contributed to your success or what you can do behavior wise to increase your success for that point.

5) Mark will continue to respond to each individual check-in. In addition, each week (and month) Mark will be choosing from the comments you have provided to highlight your successes.

6) Just to repeat from the orientation — we don't expect perfection, because making these changes in behavior is extremely difficult; however, the intent of participation for the group is important - are you willing to make an honest attempt to follow the guidelines as intended, and keep trying to work toward improvements when you are struggling? If so, you are in the right place, no matter what your starting point is, and how much (or little) success you may feel you're having at the moment. Intentionally planning NOT to follow the guidelines, or not attempting to make changes in the appropriate behaviors when needed, however, doesn't serve the individual participant well, nor is it good for the group as a whole.

Warm wishes for the new year. May you all take on new behaviors that will increase your adherence so over time you are able to achieve all your health goals.
