B12 in Plants?

Postby JeffN » Wed Jan 01, 2020 11:09 am

There have been some recent reports of bio-active B12 found in a plant called DuckWeed or Water Lentil. Most of them are a PR release (Or copy of it) from a company that uses the Duckweed in it production of Its vegan plant protein Ingredients.

This is not the first time this has happened. To date, none of these B12’s have proven out to be a reliable source of B12. You can read about the past history of the issue at these twolinks.

If this turns out to be true, it also needs to be confirmed that it is a reliable source. That means, it would be proven to prevent a b12 deficiency and correct an existing b12 deficiency.

Until then, I would not recommend relying on this product for b12.
