Cholesterol still high after WFPB for 2 1/2 years

I am 58. I am not overweight anymore...lost 30 lbs since eating a whole food plant based diet. I am reasonably active. My latest cholesterol came in at 239...down from 258 in 2016. Maybe it was higher in 2019 when I changed my diet but I didn't do a test so there is no way of knowing. Triglcerides are ok and the good cholesterol went up. How long does it take to bring my numbers down below 200? This was a nonfasting test if that makes any difference. Is this just a sign of it being hereditary or am I jumping the gun. I really don't want to go on statins if I can help it.
