Vitamin D deficiency & Easy Bruising?

Postby hari9 » Thu Mar 27, 2008 8:25 am

I was reading Dr. McDougall's newsletter about Vitamin D http://www.drmcdougall.com/misc/2007nl/sep/vd.pdf
It mentioned a list of skin problems that are related to Vitamin D deficiency. I was wondering since easy bruising with slow recovery was not mentioned if it could also be caused by a Vitamin D deficiency or would that be caused by something different?

As fas I know, this would not be related to Vit D.

There are some medications and supplements that could increase your risk. Aspirin Coumadin, Plavix, fish oil, ginkgo, ginger and garlic may all increase your bruising risk, since these all have a blood-thinning effect.

Also, Corticosteroids can also increase your risk as they can cause thinning of the skin.
