Hello Jeff,
Here is my silly question for today.
I know that some medications are administered by transdermal patch. So, is oil applied to the skin to moisturize/massage absorbed into the bloodstream instead of remaining just skin deep?

Yes, oil applied to the skin can be absorbed. While I don't think it is a major issue for most people, I gave an example in one of the threads on this, on a study where they actually treated an EFA deficiency in an infant by applying oil to their skin.
