My crock pot oats ...

Postby Sunny » Wed Oct 25, 2006 12:10 pm

Did not come out as planned, the consistancy was good but I could taste the tartness of the apple juice :-( Any suggestions

What were your ingredients?
How much apple juice?
I do a more restricted Program to maintain my weight & health. I have been McDougalling for about 30 years, with a long transition, until I finally accepted this lifestyle, stayed on Program and reached my goal back in 2006.

I followed the recipe posted the other day with all the different kinds to make, I used 2 cups apple juice and 4 cups of water. Maybe I should use
one cup of apple juice :?:
2 cups of oats (groats)
6cups of water varies w/different flavors

Pumpkin pie - 1 small can pumpkin / it says use part of apple juice instead of water maybe 2 cups ?? pumpkin spice and 1 tsp of vanilla.
Maybe I should use a different kind of apple juice :?:

Any advise would be greatly appreciated :-D

But I use water when cooking my groats, and then add fruit afterwards.

Sunny, the apple juice is for sweetness, but if you don't like it you can just use water.

I put a little maple syrup on mine when I eat it, usually just a tablespoon. That might help with the tartness for you, if you want to make it a little sweeter.
It IS the food! :unibrow:
