dry farm tomatoes

Postby Vanilla Orchid » Thu Sep 02, 2021 4:20 pm

These are not a variety of tomatoes, but a method of growing tomatoes without irrigation. They are available seasonally (as in now) and grown in cool coastal climate (Watsonville, CA specifically). They are denser and much more flavorful than conventionally grown tomatoes. I have seen a few varieties (mostly Early Girl) at Rainbow Market in San Francisco, and once in a while at a farmers market. Yesterday I found a very large selection of dry farm tomatoes, including some heirloom types at the Pacifica Farmers market. I bought quite a few, and they are DELICIOUS.

Who else has had these tomatoes? Not sure if these are just a regional specialty, or if they are available elsewhere. Get them if you can.
