I am grateful for McDougall's REVENGE

Postby Principality » Thu Jun 30, 2016 11:59 am

Today I made a series of bad choices at the grocery store and am suffering the consequences. I'm so grateful for said consequences to exist. It may sound juvenile but with food, the health consequences (non allergic) take too long to kick in to really get the point through my thick skull. I need immediate punishment for negative choices to learn not to do them again. McDougall's Revenge did that for me today. I knew it was a nasty food item, a sausage, egg, and cheese muffin sandwich from the grocery deli followed by some pickled beet deviled eggs. However, my desire for it over-rode my judgment and I ate it and enjoyed it immensely for a brief moment. I felt like I was getting away with something. I knew what would happen to my blood and theory as to the horrid things it would do to my body. I knew I had healthier things at home and that I wouldn't starve if I waited the few miles to get to a potato, lovingly waiting in the fridge. Sometimes knowing right and wrong isn't enough to motivate a change in behavior. I needed the body feedback of illness from that food to let me know in no uncertain terms that there is no going back. I hope to transcend the need for such fear of pain, promise of reward reasoning and have great hopes that Doug Lisle's video's may shed some light on how to change that. Until then I am so very grateful for the lesson that McDougall's revenge taught me today.

TIme to Tally June's Progress

Postby Principality » Fri Jul 01, 2016 6:27 am

..and is it ever a joy to journal it.

Starting weight in June 2016 225
Current weight for July 1, 2016 214
Goal 170
total loss in 4 weeks is 11lbs
Height 5'7"
age 35
Measurements June1st versus July1
-Chest June 45.5, July 44
-Waist June 39.5, July 38
-Navel June 46.5, July 41
-Hips June 45.5, July 44
Current size 2x 18W-20W

Now on to fitness. I began wearing a pedometer June 1st as well as aiming for 6 (10 minute) stationary bike intervals daily. I made at least 40 minutes daily and 60 most days. The total steps for the month were 179520 with an average of 8160 daily. I also tasked myself to increase difficulty monthly as long as it didn't force me to lessen the work already being done. So I choose July's add on to be a 30 minute gentle seated yoga work out in the evening before bed.
