I read all the artcles on omega 3"s and fish oils on the mcdougall archives and found nothing that addresses the issue of the dha component of the omega 3"s. Anyone have suggestions?

Try reading through this thread:
http://www.drmcdougall.com/forums/viewt ... hlight=dha
You can see what Dr. McDougall had to say about supplementation. Also look at the link I mentioned in that thread:
http://www.vegsoc.org/info/omega3.html
From what I've seen, I haven't been convinced of the need for DHA supplementation. I do have some ground flax seed most days though and I think that more than suffices in enabling my body to obtain or make any EFAs, etc., required.
If this isn't a sufficient answer for you, you can always email Dr. McDougall yourself. If you do, be sure to share his answer with us!
