Detox

Postby Stan » Thu Nov 30, 2006 9:16 am

I'm new to this program and have been eating more grains and less fats for the last week or so.
The last few days I've felt horrible.
Is this detox?
Any suggestions?
Thanks

could be, but could be calories

Any big change in diet can upset the system for a while, but one common mistake for new McDougallers is to eat too few calories. With your lower fat, could your food intake be too low? Maybe you just need to eat more, maybe adding some starchy vegetables like potatoes and squash into the mix.

Stick w/ it

Stan -

Stick with it. Eat a wide variety of veggies, fruits and grains.

Are you eating pastas and breads as the majority of you grains?

If so, you might try moving to less processed grains, such as rice (not white), potatoes (sweet and white), and oats (meal or steel cut).

Get some smaller glad containers and keep a variety of veggies in the fridge. I usually always have red pepper, cucumber, sweet onion, tomotoes, potatoes, sweet potatoes, spinach, corn and broccoli available. And rotate a few other varieties. Bananas, apricots, grapes, oranges and apples are my staple fruits.

Salsa is also a good way to get your veggies, put on top of potatoes, salad, or eat with corn tortillas.

Let us know what you're eating and it will be easier to assist.
