4 lbs down!

Postby asahmof5 » Wed Sep 17, 2008 7:55 am

My first day success. I just started the vegan lifestyle changes yesterday and I was shocked when I got on the scale this morning. I can not believe in one day I lost 4 lbs! I am so pumped up right now. Loosing weight is an added bonus of choosing a healthier lifestyle. I'm so glad I found out about Dr. McDougall's website.

Congratulations! You've made a great choice for health. Like you, I chose McDougall for health reasons and have lost 18 pounds in 6 months. I really did not realize that I was overweight -- just thought I was round in the middle. I'm sure that the belly fat that I was carrying around added to my health problem.

This diet has paid off in so many ways. Glad you've joined us. This forum will be a wonderful source for you on your journey.

getting that fluid off helps. Now, dont' get discouraged if you gain again though. Some folks get a bit plugged up when they aren't use to all this fiber, then all of a sudden they are down a bunch of weight. A lot depends on how the diet was before starting mcdougall.

Congrats on your first day success! Keep it up and it'll only get better and better :-)

You'd posted on the Newbies forum that you were looking for any info about this plan in regards to breastfeeding. Along with all the amazing people on these boards, I thought I'd also mention Jeff Novick's forum to you...he's Dr. McDougall's nutritionist and offers an amazing wealth of info. Here's a link to a recent thread about breastfeeding that maybe helpful to you:
http://drmcdougall.com/forums/viewtopic ... astfeeding

There are also some newsletter articles from Dr. McDougall that cover information you might find useful:

http://www.drmcdougall.com/misc/2005nl/ ... celiac.htm

http://www.drmcdougall.com/misc/2004nl/ ... ite5pf.htm (breastfeeding article at the bottom of the page)

Dr. McDougall's book "The McDougall Program for Women" also discusses breastfeeding in more depth if I remember correctly. Though it's not currently in print, it's available as an e-book on this website (see "Store" tab on the home page).

Best of luck :-)
