Day 86 ~ Today was a success, yesterday was not. Seems to be my pattern: off again, on again. It was Valentines Day yesterday and I spent it with the grandchildren. We had so much fun. I made a big batch of Chili Mac, my veggie version for lunch. Then I made some chocolate chip cookies and made some popcorn. Then we shut the shades and curtains to try to make it dark so we could watch a movie like the theater. It was a fun day.
Today, was back to business. I had a bowl of muesli with blueberries and a banana for breakfast. I don't think I need to mention that the coffee is a given. I consider that my "me" time.
Then I went to the gym for some more "me" time. I think I managed a little over 6 treadmill miles all together. I completed my 5k101 Week 5 Day 3 (jog 8 minutes, walk 2 minutes three times), without an unscheduled walk break. Yeah for me! Then I noticed on my ipod nano Nike plus history that I did not have a time for the 3k. So I decided to run a 3k to see how long it would take me. Well, the 3k according to the Nike Sport took me 21 minutes, but the treadmill was showing 2.25 miles. I have had my nano for 5 1/2 years now and I think the battery is dying so it is no longer accurate. Oh well, the time for my 3k should be easy to beat. I feel a new personal best coming soon ! lol. I finished with a 1/2 treadmill mile incline walk.
I came home and ate lunch: mashed potatoes with the leftover Greens and Broccoli Soup. Yum! I never thought to use a soup as a gravy before. What a great way to eat more veggies.
Then we had to go to town to celebrate my mom and my husband's birthday. We go to a restaurant that offers free birthday dinners. The choice was Mexican. ~patting myself on the back~ I did not eat one chip. I ordered a garden burrito and requested no sauce and I received my burrito with sauce inside but not on top. I told the waiter I requested NO sauce and even told him I did not like sauce on my food. But, he replied, it is for flavor. I told him I did not want the flavor. He redid my order but, man, was that salty. I guess they figured I would not like it plain. UGH! I ate it because I was h.u.n.g.r.y. and everyone else was almost done with their meal.
They brought out deep fried tortillas with whipped cream and strawberry sauce. My mom and dad really enjoyed that. I was not even tempted, just thinking that the chips were deep fried and the strawberry sauce most likely had "beaver butt juice" in it made it easy to resist.
I guess it matters what you are thinking to help determine how strong you willpower is to resist temptation.
